A combination of Pan-Asian cuisine with a Sheffield-inspired decor, music + love of beer, Satay Yo! Beer offers a completely different experience to its neighbours on London Road. The restaurant opened its doors two years ago today, and has been providing Sheffield residents with amazing Asian food and beer ever since.
Offering food from seven different Asian countries, you can sample a number of smaller dishes off their street eats, satay and dim sum menu. Also on offer is a number of rice, noodle, salad and curry main dishes.
Last Friday we headed down to Satay to try out their vegetarian offerings, as well as their Asian beer. We ended up choosing a number of vegetarian small plates so we could sample as many things as possible, starting with a plate of veggie spring rolls.
Of course two vegetarians at an Asian restaurant means a lot of tofu was consumed. We tried out the restaurant's namesake - Satay Sayuran - and Salt + Chilli Tofu. Both were delicious, but if I had to pick a favourite it would have to be the satay.
However, my favourite dish of the night had to be the Yasai Tempura, battered and deep fried vegetables. Can't be bad for you if it's vegetables, right?!
To finish things off we had an AMAZING dessert - Ice Cream Tempura - which came recommended by the lovely manager, Susan.
We had a great time at Satay, with their funny signs on the walls and their industrial decor. The service was also fantastic, with all of the staff doing everything they could to make our visit as relaxed and enjoyable as possible. Thanks for having us Satay - we can't wait to go back for our next date night!
