Sundays are my favourite day of the week - they've always been about spending quality time with my family or partner. And nothing quite tops off a perfect Sunday like a yummy roast dinner - especially if you don't have the pots to clean after! So I was super excited when I was invited to The Riverside to try out their new Sunday lunch menu...
Home to craft beer, home-cooked meals + a beautiful setting next to the River Don, The Riverside can be found at 1 Mowbray Street, in the up and coming Kelham Island.
The selection of drinks on offer at The Riverside is pretty impressive! My partner loves all the craft beer, whilst I'm a big fan of the cocktails. On this occasion, I went for a fruity cider and Holly from Tea and Blush went for a Becks Blue (she is two weeks away from her due date!!).
The decor at The Riverside is very rustic + homely, with exposed brickwork and cast iron fireplaces. They have a newly renovated function room which we were seated in, as well as a garden which overlooks the River Don.
Being vegetarian, I went for the nut roast, which was bought out with homemade Yorkshire puddings, and veggie gravy. Dishes of roast potatoes, carrots + parsnips, and seasonal greens were put down the table, alongside a selection of different sauces for us all to help ourselves to.
The food was absolutely delicious. Vegetarian options for roast dinners are often a little bit hit or miss - but The Riverside got it so right with their veggie option. The roast potatoes were cooked with a blend of different herbs + garlic, and tasted BEAUTIFUL. I'll definitely be returning to The Riverside for Sunday lunch in the near future!
Roasts are £9.95, and you have the option to "double up" for an extra £3! The Sunday menu launches on the 4th September, making The Riverside the perfect destination for cosy Autumn Sundays.
