NYX Haul: First Impressions

NYX has been the brand on every beauty vlogger + bloggers perfectly coloured lips these last few months. The brand has been available in the UK for a while now, but up until recently you would have to go online or to a Selfridges store to pick up one of the professional beauty products. Now, NYX counters are popping up in Boots stores all around the UK, meaning it's even easier to get your hands on the competitively priced make up. Having scouted the counter in Meadowhall, Sheffield a few weeks ago, here are my first impressions of NYX...

Lip Lingerie
Fairly recently, NYX brought out a range of new liquid lipsticks which promise to be weightless + come in a variety of nude-tone shades. The lipstick applies as a cream but dries completely matte, meaning you can get precise application + long-lasting wear. I was really spoilt for choice with the amount of shades on offer, but I ended up grabbing Bedtime Flirt, a mauvey-pink colour.
My thoughts: I love love love this colour. It's so easy to wear, and pair up with any type of eye-look. The texture is creamy to start, and dries completely matte within seconds. I would say that with regards to feel, durability + look, NYX's Lip Lingerie lipsticks are great dupes for Lime Crime's Velvetines. I noticed a slight drying with this product if re-applyed, so would reccommend using a lip exfoliator in between applications.

HD Photogenic Concealer Wand
If there's something NYX has covered, it is concealer. They have so many different options - tube, jar, wand, and even palette. I went for a traditional concealer wand in the shade Porcelain - CW01. So what does this product claim to offer? "This lightweight cover-up obscures imperfections discoloration and under eye circles without ever looking cakey or obvious. Little wonder the Concealer Wand is one of NYX's best-sellers. The concentrated emollient-rich forumula goes on like a dream and creates medium to heavy coverage."
My thoughts: This concealer is soooo good. The texture is really creamy, making it easy to blend. I like to set it with powder, particularly under my eyes to avoid it creasing. It really does give a great coverage over blemishes, as well as under-eye circles. In my opinion, HD Photogenic is very similar to NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer, so if you're looking for a cheaper dupe then  I would give it a try!

XXL Lush Lashes Mascara
Part of the Lush Lashes collection, XXL is one of seven mascaras offering nourished bodacious lashes. Whether you want to lengthen, curl or volumise, NYX promises to have a Lush Lashes Mascara for you.
My thoughts: As you can probably guess from the name, this mascara delivers amazing volume. However, I don't find that it lengthens my lashes, and - for me - the formula comes out too clumpy. That being said, if intense volume is what you're after, this mascara will definitely do the trick. Personally, I think I'll try another one from the range next time...

Intense Butter Gloss
There has been a lot of hype around NYX's Butter Glosses, which offer a non-sticky + long-lasting gloss formula. The Intense range has the same feel + delectable scent as the original formula, but has a more intense colour payoff. I went for the shade Chocolate Crepe, a dark dusty rose - which in terms of colour, makes a fantastic Lime Crime "Riot" dupe.
My thoughts: I rarely to never use glosses, but decided to give this one a go because of all the good press it had received. Out of the 3 lip colours I bought from NYX, this is the one I go to least, but that is solely down to my preferences for non-glossy lip colours. Nonetheless, this product really is fantastic - the colour is beautiful, it provides a non-sticky gloss, and it lasts amazingly well, even after eating! If glosses are for you, then I would definitely give this product a try!

Soft Matte Lip Cream
Another liquid-to-matte product by NYX, however one that promises to be moisturising + more durable. There's a fantastic selection of shades (over 30!). I chose Abu Dhabi, but London + Rome also caught my eye.
My thoughts: Uh, so amazing! I just love this lipstick - the colour, feel, application + durability are all brilliant. Unlike most matte lipsticks, this product doesn't dry or go flaky on the lips. When it does start to wear off, it does so without drying out or going patchy. If I had to recommend just one NYX product, this would take the crown.

Slide On Lip Pencil
A waterproof lip liner, without any drag when applying? Sounds too good to be true right, but NYX have come up with a glide on formula, which lasts all day. Offering a rich, matte colour, these pencils come in eight different shades.
My thoughts: I chose the shade Sugar Glass, which was recommended by the sales assistant. It matches Abu Dhabi perfectly, and is pretty similar to the other lip shades I bought. I rate this product really highly - a definite staple in my make up bag!

Top to bottom: Sugar Glass, Chocolate Crepe, Abu Dhabi, Bedtime Flirt

So I think it's pretty clear that I am totally impressed with NYX and can't wait to try out more of their products! What have you tried from NYX before? Is there anything you'd recommend?
