My trip to the Lush Factory, Poole

I've been a massive Lush fan girl since the age of eight, so when I found out I was getting the opportunity to visit the Lush factory, I was pretty excitable! The factory can be found in Poole, where you can also find the first ever Lush store, opened in 1995. Here is what I got up to when I headed to the coastal town...

Upon arriving in Poole, I visited where it all began - 29 High Street, Poole. This was the first ever Lush store, and is also home to the first Lush spa (for a review of the spa, click here).

The Poole store has perfume exclusives, including 29 High Street - a perfume that is designed to smell exactly like a Lush store! Other exclusives include the two components of Breath of God perfume, Inhale + Exhale; old B-sides; and retro perfumes from Volumes 1 + 2.

Staying in Bournemouth that evening, and I headed back to Poole to the Lush factory at the crack of dawn the next day. The tour started out showing us how things are packaged once they're made. I got to bottle a few of my favourite products, including the amazing Rub Rub Rub body scrub.

Seeing how things like the bath melts + massage bars are made and poured into different moulds was really cool. Everything in the factory is pressed + made by hand.

We saw some sneaky peeks of new inventions, but no spoilers here! You'll have to wait until later on in the year...

One of my favourite parts of the tour was bath bomb compounding - which is actually much harder than it looks! Bath bombs with different colours + layers are actually really fiddly to make, but the guys at the factory can make hundreds a day!

We got to choose our favourite bath bomb and make it for ourselves. I chose Guardians of the Forest, an Oxford Street exclusive which Lord of Misrule fans will love!

Our final stop on the tour was the Lush Kitchen. To anyone who doesn't know, the Lush Kitchen offers small batches of limited edition products which can only be bought on the Lush website that very same day.

Items on the Kitchen can be old, retro products, or brand new inventions. Occasionally they will have Lush merchandise, like sweaters + aprons. The best thing to come from the Lush Kitchen in my opinion is their special edition perfumes, which have the same scent as products in store. Snow Fairy, Lord of Misrule, Celebrate, Honey I Washed the Kids, Rose Jam - to name just a few! On the day we visited they hade made lots of Grass shower gel, and a big bowl of Tennis Ball bath bombs.

We got to take home some pretty amazing exclusive goodies which got us all excited! By the time we'd made around the many buildings that make up the Lush factory we were all pretty shattered, so got some chips + headed off home.

I'm so grateful to the Lush Factory for having me, and being soooo lovely! It really showed me just how much care and attention goes into each and every product. What's your favourite Lush product? If you could go to the factory, what would you like to see being made? If you could have any product made in the Lush Kitchen, what would it be?
