A few weeks back I was kindly invited by Illamasqua to join them for a make-up masterclass, showcasing their vegan range! Being a huge fan of Illamasqua for a number of years, and being vegetarian (not all make-up is veggie - yikes!), this sounded like a fantastic opportunity. Here's what I got up to...
Joined with Holly from Tea & Blush, we headed over to the Illamasqua counter in Debenhams, Meadowhall. Too busy having a good old catch up on the train, we did end up going past Meadowhall by THREE stops - Holly of course has baby brain but I don't know what my excuse was?! When we did finally arrive, we were greeted by the lovely Illamasqua MUAs - Sarah + Farys.
Illamasqua has never (and hopefully will never) test their products on animals, nor buy from suppliers who do. They also house over 300 products which are certified vegan, making them a fantastic choice for ethical make-up lovers. Illamsqua has always prided itself in breaking away from social norms, allowing you to express your individuality by creating innovative products in a range of striking shades.
So, what did I think of my vegan make over? Here are the products that were used + what I thought...
Matte Veil Primer: As the name suggests, this primer helps to control oil levels on the skin, helping make up to stay in place throughout the day. I was impressed with this product, and once I've used up the sample from my gift box, I will be purchasing a full-sized tub!
Radiance Veil Primer: We used this primer just on my cheeks for the make-over, however I've been using the sample I received anywhere that I'd put highlighter (cheeks, forehead, chin, etc.). This primer helps to hydrate + illuminate the skin, and gives a beautiful, dewy effect.
Skin Base Foundation: This foundation comes in almost 30 different shades - unfortunately, we didn't find the right shade for me. Once the foundation was applied all over my face, it seemed to appear white on my skin. The coverage + feel were not for me either - I personally prefer foundations with a more weightless feel. If you like a more dewy look, then this might be more suited to you and you should go + get matched!
Gel Sculpt "Silhouette": A gel bronzer, to create contours across the face. I love the ease + innovativeness of this product. This is the first time I've ever tried a gel bronzer, and I really like the concept - it was easy to apply, and quick to blend.
Cream Blusher "Dixie": A really versatile product - we used this blush both on my cheeks and lips! I found it blended well, and is a fantastic shade for Spring!
Precision Ink Eyeliner: It's been a while since I've used a liquid eyeliner, but omg, I LOVE this eyeliner. All the problems I've ever had with liquid eyeliners - application, crumbling, wearing off - are just non-existent with Precision Ink. I was kindly given a full-sized tube at the event and have been raving about it ever since. This is my new fave Illamasqua product!
Brow Cake: I'm no stranger to this product, so was happy to see it feature (and applied expertly) in my vegan make-over. Brow Cake was my go-to brow powder back when I had red hair, as it was near impossible to find any red-toned brow products. It can be used wet or dry, depending on the look you're going for, and can also be used with their Sealing Gel too.
After the make-over, we were kindly gifted some beautiful products to try at home. As I said, the Precision Ink Eyeliner + Matte Veil Primer have made their way into my make-up bag as firm staples!
It was fantastic to learn more about what products Illamasqua has to offer, and to have a play around with their vegan range. A massive thanks to the Illamasqua ladies - I'll definitely be back!
