Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette

Highlighting + contouring - a minefield for an intermediate makeup lover like myself. I'd been using either a matte highlighter from a NARS compact or a pretty retro Benefit one, and I knew I had to scout the market for something new. On my lunch break I headed to Boots on a mission, but left empty handed, dissapointed with the options Smashbox, BareMinerals, and the other high-end brands had to offer. However that night I did my research and came across a drugstore alternative: Sleek's Solstice Highlighting Palette. A Sleek contour palette was recommended to me by a friend + colleague, but having the bronzer + blush elements sorted this highlighting palette was the answer to my prayers.

The palette contains 4 different highlighting shades: Ecliptic, Hemisphere, Subsolar + Equinox. Both Hemisphere + Equinox are baked powders, whilst Ecliptic has a cream-to-matte finish, and Subsolar is a silky, shimmery powder (and the most conventional highlighter in the palette).

Left to right: Equinox, Subsolar, Hemisphere + Ecliptic.

All four shades are highly pigmented + easy to blend. My personal favourite is Equinox, it's a beautiful champagne colour which looks amazing on the top of the cheekbones.

The packaging suggests to use Eclipic on the brow bone, Hemisphere on the top of the cheekbones, Equinox on the cupids bow + Subsolar down the bridge of the nose. However, depending on your skin tone and how dramatic you want your highlighting to be you could mix + match the shades to whatever you want!

An amazing plus side to this palette is the price: under a tenner for four different shades. Even the packaging is beautiful; a rose gold sleek compact. It also comes with a brush, although if I'm honest I use a Spectrum A10 small fan brush to apply these highlighters.

You can pick up this highlighting palette at Boots or Superdrug for £9.99, however they both have different offers featuring Sleek makeup at the moment. Let me know your thoughts on the palette, and if you've tried one out for yourself!
