NUDESTIX - Eye Pencil

During my visit to York on Friday, I stumbled across a Space.NK. I browsed the selection of Becca products on display, and was checking out the GlamGlow face masks everyone has been raving about, when I spied the stand of NudeStix.

More than just a clever gimmick, NudeStix are a collection of easy-to-use makeup crayons with the aim of giving a more natural look, using only nude + neutral tones. Said to be enriched with vitamins + antioxidants, NudeStix not only give long-lasting colour, but also moisturise + nourish your skin. The idea came from beauty-chemist mum, who used her two daughters as muses to create makeup that would suit all faces.

After trying out nearly every colour on the stand, I chose 'Burnish', a bronze-gold eye pencil, with a pretty shimmer. The packaging of the pencil itself is sleek - black and compact. Each eye pencil is £24 (eek), which did make me think twice as to whether or not to take the plunge. Reasoning that we don't have a Space.NK in Sheffield, I bit the bullet. I was pleasantly surprised when I had a nosey in my bag on the train coming home. The pencil is encased in a fancy tin, which has a mirrored lid. There was also a pencil sharpener which can be doubled up as a lid. I feel these little extra touches make the price less eye watering, and softened the blow completely. You're getting a quality product for that price.

The pencil is super creamy + soft, and the colour is really beautiful. I apply this crayon to the outer corners and crease of the eye, over a layer of  MAC's 'Painterly' paint pot, and 'Hey' eyeshadow on the rest of the eyelid. Once on, I find this shadow is pretty durable, and blends really easily using the built in smudger.

The downsides include creasing slightly quite quickly after application, and the fact that I imagine this pencil will be used up pretty quickly. It'll probably need sharpening after every other use. That being said it is a stunning colour, and the crayon design allowed for a really precise application. They're also pretty perfect for doing your makeup on the train, when you've left the house in a rush - a challenge that features far too often in my life.

NudeStix also have lip & cheek colours, lipgloss pens, concealers, contour crayons + a range of skincare corrective pencils. I can't wait to try them all out, particularly the double ended lip crayon in 'Mystic' + 'Whisper'. You can find NudeStix on www.lookfantastic.com or at Space.NK. Think NudeStix are worth a try? Or are pencils just not for you?
