Dressing Your Table With Dunelm

Last week, a brand new Dunelm store opened in Sheffield, at Kilner Way Retail Park. I absolutely LOVED Dunelm when I lived in Derby, but hadn't ever come across one since living in Sheffield. Thankfully, I was invited to the new store opening and given a shopping voucher to run loose with. I did get some nice bits for my apartment, including some lovely new cushions, but I had to treat myself to some beautiful table decorations, ready for Christmas! Here's how I'll be dressing my dinner table over the festive period...

A Betty's Christmas

A couple of weeks ago me and the bf had a Christmas outing to York to have a look at the Christmas markets and do a bit of present shopping. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to go in Betty's because the queue was HUGE (even more so than usual), but the teashop looked so cosy and Christmassy. Thankfully, you can order their lovely bakes, cakes and treats to be delivered straight to your door, meaning you can have a Betty's Christmas at home...

Welcome to Steam Yard

Nothing's better than taking refuge in a cosy cafe with steamed up windows and a hot cup of tea on a cold wintery day. If there's something that Sheffield does well, it's independent coffee shops, so deciding which one to go to is always a bit of a struggle. A couple of weeks ago, Steam Yard was our cafe of choice...

HD Brows: Worth the money?

The Brow Lounge HD brows worth the money review

Being a natural blonde, dying my hair has always involved an eyebrow tint to match. So when HD brows became "a thing" a few years back, I didn't really understand what the difference was between my usual wax and tint, and the new, fancy HD brows. Essentially, I thought "why pay an extra £10 for the same thing more or less?" A couple of weeks back I was invited to The Brow Lounge to give HD brows a whirl. The lovely ladies at The Brow Lounge had quite the challenge in convincing me that HD brows are worth the extra cost - read on to see how they got on...

NYX has been the brand on every beauty vlogger + bloggers perfectly coloured lips these last few months. The brand has been available in the UK for a while now, but up until recently you would have to go online or to a Selfridges store to pick up one of the professional beauty products. Now, NYX counters are popping up in Boots stores all around the UK, meaning it's even easier to get your hands on the competitively priced make up. It's been a while since I've had a good look at what The Body Shop has to offer. A Home From Home

This week I started my new job! The new role requires me to travel around the UK and Ireland, and my first visit has been to Stirling, Scotland. Whilst an amazing opportunity, I was a little nervous about swapping my lovely apartment and boyfriend for a hotel room and laptop screen for five days a week. However, I received some pretty golden advice the other day: to make all the various hotel rooms into a home from home during every visit. Here's what I've bought to do just that...

For those who don't already know, Lime Crime is a vegan + cruelty-free make up brand run by Russian-born unicorn lover Doe Deere. Her range of radical lip colours was created + launched 8 years ago when Doe found it hard to find make up as colourful as herself. This expanded over an entire make up collection, including the 2012 launch of the Velvetines: a range of liquid to matte lipsticks in beautifully pigmented colours. Read on for the pros + cons, colours and swatches.

Hair How-To: Recreated Braided Half Up-Do from Aimee Hughes

Hair is not exactly my forte - with the extent of my hair style range being either straight or curly. Also, any "how-to" posts usually mean having to have pictures of myself involved - something I usually shy away from. However, when hairdresser, blogger + friend Aimee Hughes approached me to do a collaboration, I thought I could learn a lesson or two on hair, whilst shaking things up by writing a post a little out of my comfort zone.

Sleek Solstice Highlighting Palette

Highlighting + contouring - a minefield for an intermediate makeup lover like myself. I'd been using either a matte highlighter from a NARS compact or a pretty retro Benefit one, and I knew I had to scout the market for something new. On my lunch break I headed to Boots on a mission, but left empty handed, dissapointed with the options Smashbox, BareMinerals, and the other high-end brands had to offer. However that night I did my research and came across a drugstore alternative: Sleek's Solstice Highlighting Palette. A Sleek contour palette was recommended to me by a friend + colleague, but having the bronzer + blush elements sorted this highlighting palette was the answer to my prayers.

NUDESTIX - Eye Pencil

During my visit to York on Friday, I stumbled across a Space.NK. I browsed the selection of Becca products on display, and was checking out the GlamGlow face masks everyone has been raving about, when I spied the stand of NudeStix.

More than just a clever gimmick, NudeStix are a collection of easy-to-use makeup crayons with the aim of giving a more natural look, using only nude + neutral tones. Said to be enriched with vitamins + antioxidants, NudeStix not only give long-lasting colour, but also moisturise + nourish your skin. The idea came from beauty-chemist mum, who used her two daughters as muses to create makeup that would suit all faces.

Grounded Body Scrub

Afternoon everyone! I hope you've all enjoyed the weekend, but if you had a bit too much fun + your skin could do with some TLC, then I've got the perfect antidote. Grounded Body Scrub was a brand I first saw on Dragon's Den, when Essex couple Tasha Harris + Lloyd Hazell successfully convinced Sarah Willingham to invest £30,000 in their coffee based scrub. The duo created the exfoliator to help cure Tasha's eczema, and saw great potential in the product. I was later reminded of Grounded by a friend, who showed me the scrub when I was visiting for the evening. The smell had me hooked + on my friend's recommendation, I went out to buy a pack for myself the next day.

The Melt Crowd - Flamingo Candles

This year my Christmas presents from my parents featured finds from a Christmas event at the NEC, Birmingham that my mum and sister had attended. My absolute fave gift that had come from the show has to be a set of Flamingo wax melts. I'd never heard of Flamingo before, but as soon as I had a smell of each of the individually wrapped melts, I fell in love!

LUSH Spa, Leeds | The Good Hour Review

A couple of weeks ago I paid my third visit to a LUSH spa for The Good Hour treatment. Most people think 'bath bombs' when they hear the word LUSH. However, in 8 British stores there are hidden away, vintage English kitchens, which are home to the sensory spa treatments bespoke to the cosmetics company.
